2013 Flower & Garden Expo Lecture Series Schedule

For many Expo patrons, the Lecture Series offers a great opportunity to learn more about a variety of gardening topics in a casual, relaxed setting with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.  The lectures take place inside the Ag Center and are scheduled throughout both days.  To add to the fun, door prizes are given out at the end of each lecture so patrons have an opportunity to take home a plant or gardening accessory.  This year, the lecture schedule is as follows:

Saturday, April 20

10:30 am – Have You Heard?  New & Exciting Home Landscape Choices, Jordan Whitmire, Southern Horticulture

11:30 am – Cooking from Your Herb Garden, Madeline Samec, Horticulture Assistant and Sue Swain, Master Gardener

1:00 pm – KEYNOTE – Best Trees to Grow and How to Care For Them, Chuck Lippi, Board Certified Master Arborist

2:30 pm – Nurturing Wonder & Building Connections w/Children in the Garden (a child-friendly talk), Kelly Johnson, Children’s Book Author and Illustrator

3:30 pm – Release Your Yard from Life Support w/Native Plants, Renee Stambaugh, Native Plant Consulting

Sunday, April 21

11:00 am – Worms and More Worms – Building Your Home Compost Bin (child-friendly with appropriate giveaways), Bea Imhoff, Master Gardener

12:30 pm – KEYNOTE – Vertical Gardening, Keith Fuller, St. Johns County Horticulture Agent

2:00 pm – Hands on Hyper Tufa, Melanie Palmrose, Almost Ancient Pots
